After his civic service in Jordan, Vinzenz Himmighofen earned degrees in Islamic Studies and Political Science from Heidelberg University and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. As a student he worked for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Policy Planning Unit of the Federal Foreign Office. Having graduated, Vinzenz was admitted to the Mercator Fellowship on International Affairs during which he joined IOM and Vodafone’s Mobile Money Department, amongst others, to work on the nexus of labour migration and economic development. He currently co-directs SINGA Deutschland, a social business in Berlin and a member of the international SINGA network. Its mission is to create a collaborative environment in which newcomers and locals connect around common projects and ideas. In this way, SINGA strengthens local capabilities to include newly arrived people and their talents but also positively changes the way they are viewed by their host societies.
